Planning dental work around a visit home
Most of our diaspora patients have between one and three weeks in Kosovo. That is enough time for a surprising amount of dentistry — as long as the planning happens before the plane lands.
Message us before you travel, not after you arrive
The single biggest cause of unfinished treatment is a patient who walks in on day three of a ten-day trip. Send a WhatsApp message two to four weeks before you fly with a short description of the problem, any photographs you can take, and your exact dates. We will block out the right length of appointments in advance rather than squeezing you into whatever gaps remain.
What usually fits inside a two-week visit
- Examination, X-rays and a written treatment plan
- Professional cleaning and gum treatment
- Fillings and root canal treatment
- Extractions, including most wisdom teeth
- Crowns and bridges, when the first appointment is early in the trip
- Whitening, and composite bonding
What genuinely needs two trips
Implants. The implant is placed, then the bone needs roughly three to six months to integrate before the final crown goes on. We can place on this visit and restore on the next one — many patients do exactly that, timing placement to a summer visit and restoration to the following one.
Orthodontics. Braces and aligners are measured in months, not weeks. What we can do in a short visit is take records, plan the case, and start you on a course that is monitored remotely between visits.
A sensible schedule
Book the examination for your first or second day, not your last. Leave at least three working days between the start of any multi-appointment treatment and your flight home, so there is room to adjust a crown or review healing without rushing.
